Know the Nakshatras
In Vedic astrology, the lunar zodiac consists of 27 or 28 divisions known as Nakshatras or lunar constellations. Each Nakshatra spans 13 degrees and 20 minutes of the celestial sphere. Here is the list of Nakshatras along with their ruling deities:
1. Ashwini - Ruled by the Ashwini Kumaras, the horse-headed twins.
2. Bharani - Ruled by Yama, the god of death.
3. Krittika - Ruled by Agni, the god of fire.
4. Rohini - Ruled by Chandra, the moon god.
5. Mrigashira - Ruled by Soma, the moon god.
6. Ardra - Ruled by Rudra, the fierce form of Lord Shiva.
7. Punarvasu - Ruled by Aditi, the mother of all gods.
8. Pushya - Ruled by Brihaspati (Jupiter), the guru of the gods.
9. Ashlesha - Ruled by Nagas, the serpent deities.
10. Magha - Ruled by Pitris, the ancestors.
11. Purva Phalguni - Ruled by Bhaga, the god of marital bliss and prosperity.
12. Uttara Phalguni - Ruled by Aryaman, the god of contracts and unions.
13. Hasta - Ruled by Savitar, the god of creativity and craftsmanship.
14. Chitra - Ruled by Tvashtar, the celestial architect.
15. Swati - Ruled by Vayu, the god of wind.
16. Vishakha - Ruled by Indra and Agni.
17. Anuradha - Ruled by Mitra, the god of friendship.
18. Jyeshtha - Ruled by Indra, the king of gods.
19. Mula - Ruled by Nirriti, the goddess of destruction.
20. Purva Ashadha - Ruled by Apas, the god of water.
21. Uttara Ashadha - Ruled by Vishvedevas, the universal gods.
22. Shravana - Ruled by Vishnu, the preserver.
23. Dhanishta - Ruled by Vasus, the elemental gods.
24. Shatabhisha - Ruled by Varuna, the god of cosmic waters.
25. Purva Bhadrapada - Ruled by Ajaikapada, an ancient form of Rudra.
26. Uttara Bhadrapada - Ruled by Ahirbudhnya, the serpent of the deep sea.
27. Revati - Ruled by Pushan, the nourishing form of the Sun god.
