Parashari Aspects
In Vedic astrology, Parashari aspects, also known as Drishti, refer to the planetary influences or sight lines that planets cast on other planets or specific points in the birth chart. These aspects play a crucial role in determining the interactions between planets and shaping various life events and experiences. The Parashari system, attributed to Maharishi Parashara, outlines the primary aspects between planets, which are as follows:
1. Full Aspects (Drishti):
● Planetary Opposition (7th Aspect): Planets aspect the 7th sign from their placement. For instance, if Mars is placed in Aries, it aspects Libra, the 7th sign from Aries.
● Planetary Square (4th Aspect): Planets aspect the 4th and 8th signs from their placement. For example, if Jupiter is placed in Cancer, it aspects Aries and Capricorn, the 4th and 8th signs from Cancer, respectively.
● Planetary Trine (5th Aspect): Planets aspect the 5th and 9th signs from their placement. If Saturn is in Leo, it aspects Sagittarius and Aries, the 5th and 9th signs from Leo, respectively.
2. Special Aspects:
● Mars' Special Aspects: In addition to its full aspects, Mars also has a special 8th aspect. This means that Mars aspects the 8th sign from its placement, in addition to its 4th and 7th aspects.
● Jupiter's Special Aspects: In addition to its full aspects, Jupiter has a special 5th and 9th aspect. This means that Jupiter also aspects the 5th and 9th signs from its placement, in addition to its 7th aspect.
● Saturn's Special Aspects: Besides its full aspects, Saturn has a special 3rd and 10th aspect. This indicates that Saturn also aspects the 3rd and 10th signs from its placement, in addition to its 7th aspect.
These Parashari aspects are used extensively in Vedic astrology to analyze the planetary influences in a birth chart, assess strengths and weaknesses, predict life events, and provide guidance to individuals. Astrologers carefully consider the aspects formed between planets and points in the chart to derive insights into various aspects of life, including career, relationships, health, and spirituality.
